Sophia Scott

Sophia Scott is a native New Orleanian who has worked in education since 2007. She serves as the executive director of Opportunities Academy (OA), a school that serves students ages 18 to 22 who have significant exceptionalities. Sophia received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University New Orleans in Mass Communication: Public Relations; and she received her Master of Arts in Teaching Special Education from Xavier University Louisiana.

Right after beginning her role at Opportunities Academy, she became a participant in the very first cohort of IndigoWomen: A Group Coaching Experience. Because she enjoyed the experience so much, she joined the community as the Vibe Tribe Host, supporting future IndigoWomen in their evolution and development. Prior to her role as executive director, Sophia served as the Principal in Residence at OA and the Director of College Access Programs for Collegiate Academies (CA), where she coached college counselors and served as an alumni advisor. Before going to work as a Manager of College Completion at CA in 2016, Sophia spent much of her work in education working in alternative schools as a special education professional. With experience in both traditional schools and charter schools, Sophia has been an educator in the New Orleans public school system since 2007. Her passion is rooted in serving all.
